Burundi

Since November 2014, the ESC of Burundi is led by a new Board, chaired by Mrs. Denise Sinankwa, former Minister of Trade and Industry, former Minister of Finance of Burundi; Mrs. Sinankwa also is Senior Advisor to the President of the Republic of Burundi in charge of economic issues. The Vice President is Mr. Donatien NIJIMBERE, Director General of SOSUMO sugar manufacturing company; the SG is Mrs. Josaphat KANZAYIRE and the Deputy SG is Dr. Kazihise Pierre CLAVER, Director of the National Institute of Public Health INSP. In the framework of the Seoul Declaration implementation, a training workshop for the Congolese ESC members on “ESC capacity building and social dialogue for an efficient and sustainable social protection floor” will take place in July 2015 in Brazzaville (Congo). South Korea

The Committee on Improvement of Job Skills Development System to Make Work Pay under the Economic and Social Development Commission of Korea adopted the Tripartite Agreement to Promote Life-long Job Skills Development on 20 January, 2015.

On 19th and 20th  September 2014, UCESIF and the Nigerian CESOC co-organized in Niamey (Niger) a workshop on the implementation of social protection floors for all. The acts are now available online on the UCESIF website.

A group of young Tunisian politicians was invited to visit the SER on 20th January. The visit, bringing together members from different political parties, was organized in the context of the Programme sponsored by the Dutch Institute for Multiparty Democracy.

Czech Republic

Starting from 1st March 2015, Mr David Kadecka (David.Kadecka@mpsv.cz) is the new Secretary-General of the ESC. He will replace Mr Ondrej JUKL, who resigned from his post after a 10-year service.

Dominican Republic

On 19th January, on the occasion of « Launching Ceremony for the Electricity Alliance», meetings were held to reach an agreement among different economic and social actors in the country on an electricity pact aimed at overcoming the energy crisis. These meetings followed some summits within the ESC among the different sectors affected by the electricity problem.
