The 14th International Meeting and the General Assembly of AICESIS took place in Moscow (Russia) from 16 to 18 September, under the chairmanship of Mr. Evgeny Velikhov. These meetings ended the Russian presidency. Mr. Agripino NUNEZ Collado, President of the ESC of the Dominican Republic, was appointed unanimously and by acclamation, President of the AICESIS for 2015-2017. Furthermore, Board members were renewed on this occasion.

The AICESIS, ILO and the Dutch SER organize at The Hague (Netherlands) on 29 and 30 October, an international conference on “Promoting workplace compliance including in global supply chains: The role of ESCs and similar institutions of social dialogue”. A background paper to this conference, developed based on responses to a questionnaire sent to each member, will be released shortly. Members must send their registrations as soon as possible.

 

AICESIS work in progress

 The AICESIS will take the floor at the conference, to be held in Paris (France) from 30 November to 11 December 2015. The report, drafted by the French ESEC was finalized and adopted at the General Assembly in Moscow (17 September 2015).

A summary document gathering together notes on social dialogue at national level, developed by 33 ESC-SIs was broadcasted at the General Assembly in Moscow.

Cameroon: At the invitation of Dr. Martha TheodoroU (Greek OKE), AICESIS Chargée de mission on Communication, the Cameroon ESC has prepared a note on social dialogue in Cameroon.

Cambodia - Korea: The Korean ESDC is currently developing a cooperation project with the Cambodian Labor Advisory Committee to promote social dialogue in the country. A seminar will be organized soon in Phnom Penh.

Guinea: Mrs Hadja Rabiatou Serah DIALLO has been elected President of the Economic and Social Council of Guinea on August 10, 2015 at the Palais du Peuple in Conakry.

Gabon: The President of the ESC, Mr. Paul BIYOGHE MBA, was recently appointed as Vice-Prime Minister.

As part of the collaboration between the ESC of Jordan and its counterpart in Spain, a delegation headed by Dr. Munther Shar’e, President of the ESC of Jordan, visited Madrid and met with the Spanish ESC. The purpose of the visit was to examine the Spanish experience in enhancing dialogue among social partners in addition to enhance collaboration between both councils. It was agreed to continue working within the framework of a previously signed MOU and to enhance collaboration in future events especially conducting studies of mutual interest.

 Jordan: The labor Policies Committee at the Economic and Social Council has finalized three major studies that cover certain issues affecting the Jordanian labor market. The studies were conducted upon an initiative from the Council and covered collective labor agreements and labor protests, and a study measuring the impact of the flow of Syrian refugees on the Jordanian labor market in addition to a study that estimates the number of child workers in Jordan from between 2014-2016. Studies were sent to the Council members in order to adopt in the upcoming General Assembly.

CESLAC: The next meeting of the ESC-SIs network in Latin America and the Caribbean will be held soon in Jalisco (Mexico).

UCESIF: At the conference held in Rabat (Morocco) on 11 and 12 June on Corporate Social Responsibility, the UCESIF Office was renewed. In addition, two new members were admitted: the Public Council of Armenia and the ESC of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
