The AICESIS Board that took place on March in Luxembourg was chaired by Mr. Marco WAGENER, President of the ESC of Luxembourg, and Mrs. Rabiatou Sara DIALLO, President of the ESC of Guinea, because of the absence of President Agripino NUNEZ COLLADO. The Board appointed Mr. GONZALEZ de LENA as AICESIS Secretary-General for 4 years renewable from the 1st of July 2017.

In parallel, a workshop to share practices was held on March 3 on the ESC-SIs’ practices, functioning and working ways, and more particularly on “How to assess the impact and added value”. All presentations are available on the AICESIS website (www.aicesis.org ).

AICESIS work in progress

Implementation by the Cotonou GA (Benin, September 2016) of the AICESIS working group on the 2017 UN ECOSOC topic “Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world”. The Spanish ESC has been designated rapporteur of this topic. The 1st note has been sent to all early March.

Implementation by the Cotonou GA (Benin, September 2016) of the AICESIS working group on the 2017 International Labor Conference topic “Labour Migration”. The Greek OKE has been designated rapporteur of this topic. The 1st note has been sent to all at the end of February.

Development surrounding the ESC

As part of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome, the European ESC organized on 13 March in Rome, with the presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers, a conference entitled "Sixty years of the European Community - Forge the Future!".

In accordance with the Cotonou Agreement, the EESC organizes every three years meetings with the economic and social interest groups of the 78 ACP-EU countries. The next meeting will take place in Brussels on 15 and 16 May 2017.

The ESC is involved in the UN Roundtable on "Balance and Sustainability: Chinese Civil Organizations Support Global Development Agenda" held at UN offices in New York (United States) on 18 September 2015.
