The AICESIS International Meeting, the General Assembly and two Boards took place on 6, 7 and 8 September 2017 in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic). The Assembly, which ended the AICESIS Presidency of the Dominican ESC, provided an opportunity to organize a debate on the main work of the Presidency for 2015-2017 « the role of ESCs-SIs in the fight against inequalities linked to poverty » before the adoption of the final report, to welcome the new AICESIS President for 2017-2019, Mr. Iacob BACIU (Romania), the new SG AICESIS, Mr. Francisco GONZALEZ DE LENA (Spain), the new Board (Benin, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Morocco, Senegal, UCESA (Mali) / Brazil, Curacao, Dominican Republic / China, Korea, Russia / Spain, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Romania) and the new Vice SG (Korea, Curacao, Greece, UCESA).

AICESIS work in progress

On 9 June in Geneva (Switzerland), the OKE of Greece, Rapporteur, took the floor on behalf of AICESIS at the International Labor Conference to present the AICESIS report on "Labor Migration Flows".

On 20 July in New York (United States), the President of the Guinean ESC spoke to the UN ECOSOC high-level segment to present the AICESIS report on "Eradicating Poverty and Promoting Prosperity in a Changing World".

Following an interruption, the ESC was reinstated and Mr. Alfred POLOKO is the President of the new ESC.

In the framework of the West African regional workshop, the ESC of Guinea, in addition to its report on the national workshop on social dialogue and social protection held on 23, 24 and 25 May 2016, studied "How to check that the conditions for setting up a social protection floor are met? A critical analysis of the necessary conditions".

Mr. MOON, Sung Hyun was newly appointed as Chairman of the Economic and Social Development Commission on the 25th of August. As a distinguished labor activist, he was President of the Korean Metal Workers Union of the Korean Confederation of Trade Union in 1999. Also, he served as President of the Democratic Labor Party in 2004.

The President of the CDES is Mr Michel TEMER (President of the Republic), the Executive Secretary is Mr Eliseu PADILHA (Minister of the Office of the Chief of Staff) and the Secretary of the Secretariat is Mrs. Patricia AUDI.

On 19 June, the CC began its new mandate for 2017-2020. During the first plenary session, the President, the Honorary President and the Vice-Presidents were elected and the Commissions were set up. Thus, the new President of the CC is Mr. Valery FADEEV; the Honorary President is Mr. Evgeny VELIKHOV; the head of the executive board is Mr. Pavel ANDREEV.
