Editorial

Year 2014 ended very well for AICESIS. The AICESIS General Secretariat would like to take this opportunity to deeply thank each member for all the efforts and commitment devoted to AICESIS and for the excellent quality of the established partnerships. Year 2015 has already foreseen plenty of activities and experienced an increasing number of Councils eager to become more active within AICESIS. We hope that 2015 will be as successful as the previous years.

AICESIS work in progress

ECOSOC Working Group: « How to ensure the transition from the Millennium Development Goals to those for Sustainable Development? ». In its capacity as Chair of this group, the Algerian CNES prepared a first note transmitted to all AICESIS members and aimed at collecting their views.

ILO Working Group: « Small and medium-sized enterprises and the creation of decent and productive employment opportunities ». The ESC of Luxembourg, as Chair of this group, will prepare a draft note to be sent to all AICESIS members in order to collect their views.

21 January (Algiers, Algeria): Meeting between the President of the CNES, Mr. Mohamed Séghir BABES, and the AICESIS SG, Mr. Venturini, to prepare the « Symposium on the future of AICESIS » to be held in Algiers.

Morocco: On the occasion of its 45th regular session, held on 18th December in Rabat, the CESE adopted some opinions on the bills relating respectively to the development of Moroccan coasts and on medical practice. On this occasion, recommendations on the bills for internal regulations, the 2015 budget as well as for the Council Action Plan were also approved.

Sharm-El-Sheik (Egypt, 16-18 December) : A Summit bringing together representatives from the ESCs of Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Mauritania and Palestine as well as delegates from Egypt, Soudan and Yemen was the occasion for the adoption of an agreement aimed at launching in the near future a League of ESCs from Arab Countries. A new meeting has been scheduled in March in Morocco.
