We are looking forward to seeing you again very soon at the AICESIS International Meeting in Budapest on 9-11 July! Files were sent to all participants on 11 and 23 June. If you have not received one, please contact the AICESIS general-secretariat (aicesis@ces.fr).

 

Rappel urgent !

 

International Meeting in Budapest, Hungary (9-11 July): In order to ensure that everyone is met on arrival and transferred from airport to hotel without a hitch, all participants should by now have sent their forms, duly completed with flight times, to the AICESIS general-secretariat (aicesis@ces.fr or michele.macher@ces.fr ).

 
 

Travaux AICESIS en cours

  • Main AICESIS study topic: “Development with equity and environmental responsibility”. In the light of comments submitted by members, the Rapporteur, Mr Artur Henrique Da Silva Santos, has drawn up a new report, dispatched to everyone on 15 June, which will be submitted for debate in Budapest on 9 July.

  • ECOSOC Working Group on Public Health: based on the comments received, the Guinean ESC has drawn up a report and a speech to be read by the AICESIS President at the ECOSOC Plenary Assembly in Geneva (Switzerland) on 8 July 2009.

  • Subscriptions: Just over half of ESC members have already paid their AICESIS subscription for 2009, which represents over 50% of last year’s Association funds.
 
  • 5 June (Geneva, Switzerland): Speech by Ms Santoro (Italian CNEL) on behalf of AICESIS to the ILO Commission on Gender Equality.

  • Senegalese ESC: Mr Ousmane Masseck Ndiaye, former Minister of State, Minister for Decentralisation and Local Authorities, has been appointed head of the Senegalese ESC by the Republic’s President.
  • Brazilian CDES: The June working group’s topic is “an energy matrix for development with equity plus social and environmental responsibility”. Brasil’s energy policies aim at securing improvements and the country’s continued development whilst respecting the priniciple of fairness and the environment. Activity reports are published every month on the on the CDES website.

  • Chinese ESC and the EESC: on 18 and 19 May the Chinese and European ESCs held their fifth joint round-table meeting in Tianjin, China.

  • UN ECOSOC: on 27 April a special high-level meeting was held in New York between the UN ECOSOC, the Bretton Woods institutions, the WTO and UNCTAD on “Coherence, Coordination, and Cooperation in the Implementation of the Monterrey Consensus and the Doha Declaration with regard to the financing of Development.

  • Union of French-speaking Economic and Social Councils (UCESIF): UCESIF, which brings together 17 Councils from French-speaking countries, will hold its General Assembly on Friday 10 July during the 11th AICESIS International Meeting. It will outline its plans for the next two years, complementing activities undertaken by AICESIS and coordinating them with the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (International Organisation of the French-speaking world). It will also re-appoint its Bureau so that a new President can be elected.
