The International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS) is run by a Board.
The Board has a minimum of ten and a maximum of fifteen members, for a renewable two years period. These members are designated by the General Assembly. The Assembly takes care of a balanced composition of the Board, taking into account the geographical representations. The Board has presently 15 members, representing four continents (Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe). The Board is chaired by the AICESIS President, who is as well designated for a two year period.
The Board usually meets twice a year. Its operating principle is collegial responsibility. The Secretary-General is responsible for the execution of the decisions taken by the Board and reports on their proper implementation.
