- Working group: The responses of the ESCs/SIs and civil society to the world energy and financial crisis. The Russian Civic Chamber is currently drawing up the document which will be submitted to the General Assembly in Rio.
- ILO working group: Youth employment. The second memo drafted by the rapporteur general (Mr Bouras, Algeria) will shortly be sent out to all members.

- Mauritius: Dr Martha Theodorou, AICESIS chargée de mission on communication, has prepared a memo with the Mauritius NESC on social dialogue in Mauritius.

- Algeria: The CNES of Algeria has recently carried out two major initiatives: organising the "First civil society estates general" and, upon referral to the CNES by the President of the Republic of Algeria, organising national concertation on local development. - France: At the plenary session on 13 March 2012, the CESE adopted its opinion on the safety of offshore oil rigs with a view to the preventive management of environmental dangers
http://www.lecese.fr/sites/default/... - Mauritius: Marc Hein has resigned as president of the National Economic and Social Council of Mauritius after being appointed president of the Financial Services Commission (FSC). His successor will be appointed shortly.
- CAR: The ESC of the Central African Republic closed its first ordinary session on 20 March 2012. The Head of State was represented by the Minister of State for Finance and the Budget. During the session, bureau membership was partly renewed and the ESC gave its opinion on two draft laws dealing with the agro-pastoral land code and the protection of children.
- ILO: The ILO’s Paris office has set up a Facebook page focusing on youth employment with a view to the general debate on this subject at the International Labour Conference (31 May 25 June 2012) and the Youth Forum which will also take place in Geneva on 23-25 May 2012.
